Visit St Declans – Nov 10th ‘08
Following their historic win in Dungarvan the De La Salle Senior
Hurling Team paid a welcome visit to St Declans this morning as 2008
Waterford County Senior Huling Champions and proudly showed off the trophy
which they won for the first time in a thrilling final against Abbeyside
yesterday. 12 out of the 32 players on the panel were former St Declans boys
and we had 4 on the starting 15. Their presence was greatly appreciated as it
acknowledged the part that we here in St Declans have played in this teams
journey to ultimate success. The names of the many coaches here down through
the years were recalled especially Eamonn FitzGerald for his many years of service
in the development of underage players. Both Kevin Moran and John Mullane
thanked the school for its great
support and encouraged all young hurlers to believe that one day that with
lots of practice they too can make it to the top.
