Information
Welcome to the website of St.
Declan’s Mr Kevin Doran is principal of St Declans
since September 2008 St. Declan’s is a Roman Catholic school under
the Patronage of Bishop William Lee, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Waterford
and Lismore. It is an all boys primary school with
classes ranging from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. There is also a preschool
attached to the school. The school aims to teach the pupils in accordance
with the rites, practices and doctrines of the Catholic Church while at the
same time having regard and respect for the belief
of others. Education in St Declans is based on a
holistic approach – having regard for the childs spiritual, moral, cognitive, emotional,
imaginative, aesthetic, social and physical development. These values are
reflected in the methodologies and objectives of the Revised Curriculum {Gov.
of Ireland 1999} The pervading atmosphere of the school will be one of
harmony – promoting respect and tolerance of difference. Pupils will be
enabled to learn in an environment which is safe and secure so that each
individual has the opportunity to realise his full potential and take his
place in society with confidence. Presently there are 26 teachers employed in the
school including the principal, 16 class teachers, 3 resource teachers, 2
learning support teachers and 4 preschool teachers. There are
5 SNA’s also working in the school. Meet

to Community Page Our
School has got a very vibrant and supportive Parents Association (P.A.). Each
parent of a pupil in St. Declan's is automatically a member of the P.A. Any
parent who wishes to do so may become a committee member of the P.A. The
committee meets once a month on a very informal basis. This monthly meeting
is the ideal forum for the parents to be kept informed of school policies and
events that are happening in the school as well as giving parents an
opportunity to express their views regarding issues pertaining to the school,
the pupils and the parents. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
