’12 – ‘13
Confident Start by Senior Footballers [Sept 13th ‘12] Our U13 Footballers played the first game in the Allianz U. 13 Football League for Primary
schools at De La Salle College this afternoon. Mount Sion
provided the opposition and we recorded a good victory to get our defence of the Eastern title off to the best possible
start. There were good performances from Adam O’Brien and Dillon Finn in defence. Lee O’Connor and Cormac Power were dominant in
midfield. Up front Jack Power, Liam Coad and Harry White were very effective.
Next week we have an away game v Ballygunner on
Thursday. Final score: St. Declan's

second fixture in the Allianz U. 13 Football League took place this afternoon
at Ballygunner. This proved to be a very close and
competitive encounter with Ballygunner emerging
victorious in the end by three points. We opened brightly with an early goal
from Tadhg Ryan, however Ballygunner
responded with a goal and two points. The half time score was St. Declan’s
1-1 Ballygunner 1-2. We
continued to trade scores with Ballygunner
throughout the second half and with time running out Ballygunner
took the lead with a well taken goal. Despite our best efforts we failed to
secure the equalizer. Final score: St. Declan’s
2-3 Ballygunner 3-3. Panel: Martin Wright, Harry White, Tadhg Ryan, Dillon Finn, Nathan Finn, Adam O’Brien, Harry

gale blowing throughout the game. Holycross N. S.
provided the opposition and this was a keenly contested game. The
sides were level at the interval one point each, Holycross
having played against the wind. We faced the elements in the second half and
took the game to the Tramore men and we were
rewarded with an early point. We had to withstand sustained pressure from Holycross and we only conceded one more point in the
second half. Midway through the half we scored a very lucky goal with the
wind certainly affecting the flight of the ball. We clung on to our lead as Holycross were camped in our half. Dylan and Nathan Finn
both played well in defence, Lee O’Connor and Aidan
Gannon worked extremely hard at midfield. Up front Cormac Power, Jack Power
and Martin Wright made telling contributions. Final score;
St. Declan’s 1-3 Holycross 0-2 The final v Ballygunner is fixed for Walsh
Park on Thursday October 25th at 2.00 p.m. Panel: Martin

Champions [Oct 25th ‘12] The final of the Allianz U13 Football League was played today at Walsh Park. Conditions were
excellent for football and we served up an excellent performance to retain
our Eastern title. We had the perfect start with Aidan Gannon pointing and
Martin Wright scoring a goal inside the first three minutes. Ballygunner replied with a point. In the meantime Ballygunner piled on the pressure but our defense held
firm. Further points from Lee O’Connor and Martin Wright left the score at
the interval St. Declan’s 1 -3 Ballygunner 0-1. The second half began brightly for us with Jack
Power, Aidan Gannon and Lee O’Connor adding points. Once again our defense
had to withstand severe pressure but Panis Mungenga, Adam Bowe, Dylan and Nathan Finn all defended
bravely. Points from Aidan Gannon and Lee O’Connor completed the scoring and
we ran out convincing winners on a score line that read St. Declan’s 1-7 Ballygunner 0-1. Team captain, Dylan Finn, accepted the trophy from Cian Power, East Waterford Primary Schools Board. The County Final v Western opposition will take
place at an Eastern venue in a few weeks. Panel: Josh

Final [Nov 20th ‘12] The Co. Final of the Allianz U. 13 Waterford Football
League was played this afternoon at Ballygunner
GAA Grounds. The first half proved to be a very even affair with both teams
scoring 3 points. Our backs played very well in this half and withstood a lot
of pressure while playing into the wind. The only
goal of the game was scored in the first minute of second half by Abbeyside. The men from the west defended their lead for
the remainder of the game and we failed to get the scores that we so badly
needed. A last minute point from Abbeyside sealed
the victory. Final score: Abbeyside
