1.      Following the success of the Waterford Senior Hurling Team in the Munster Championship it was no surprise then that Déise Day was such a great success in September 2004.

2.      In October 2004 the Mayor of Waterford visited our school to present attendance certs to all those boys who had not missed a day at school during the previous year.

3.      Once again the School Halloween Raffle was a huge success. A big THANKS must be given   to all the boys who sold so many tickets and of course to all parents who continue to be very supportive. To view the winner of the bike click on Winner.

4.      In March 2005 the annual School “Cake and Bottle Salewas held and once again there was a huge turnout of parents, pupils and past pupils all chancing their luck on the spinner. As ever thanks to all teachers and parents who contributed to the sale and /or helped in organizing another successful event. We hope you all enjoyed the night! Nearly €4,400 was raised on the night

5.      In early April 2005 the News and Star visited the school as part of their recent weekly feature on the schools of Waterford. A number of boys were interviewed and many photographs were  taken. An impressive full page was dedicated to the school where all aspects of life in St Declans was covered. It was published on April 8th ’05.

6.      Also in April 2005 the two sixth classes received the Sacrament of Confirmation in St Johns Church. A lot of preparation had been done in advance by the teachers and the boys and everyone was very pleased with the day.

7.      On May 14th our 3 second classes received the Sacrament of Communion in St Johns Church. Once again there was a huge amount of preparation in advance and the church was splendidly decorated on the day. All the boys were spick and span and the ceremony itself was very impressive.

8.      On Thursday May 19th it was officially Déise Day once again in St Declans in preparation for the Waterford championship clash with Cork. All the boys were encouraged to wear the blue and white for the day. It made for a very colourful and enjoyable occasion.

9.      On the 20th of May we celebrated the feast day of St de la Salle with a mass in St Johns church. All classes from second to sixth attended. Fr McNamara complemented all the boys on their singing and respectful behaviour in the church. The ceremony concluded with an enthusiastic and lively rendition of the school anthem St la Salle Our Dearest Father.

10.  Our annual sponsored walk was held on Thursday June 2nd. Fortunately the weather stayed dry and from early on classes were seen heading out in all directions. On their return the boys were treated to crisps and a drink. As ever the response by parents to this fundraising effort was immense and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed. Nearly €9,100 was raised.

11.  Liam Meagher was back with a bang this year as once again the two 4th classes worked tirelessly to write and produce two great plays which were performed in the school hall on June 10th during the day for the rest of the school and then that night for their parents. This was a tremendous  success providing fantastic entertainment and unquantifiable educational value. Thanks Liam and well done to both classes.

12.  Once again this year in glorious sunshine on June 11th the Penmanship Awards were given out to all classes. Br. Finbarr was the special guest and he spoke to all the boys who were assembled in the Junior Yard and congratulated all the winners on achieving such high levels of consistency with their writing and presentation during the year.

13.  The sun shone brightly all day on June 20th for the school Sport for all Day. This is a major event to organise considering that there are so many classes involved and also the amount of equipment needed. From early in the day the whole school was a hive of activity. Practice runs were being made, soccer matches and rounders games were being played, there was orienteering and penalty shootouts and a bicycle time trial challenge as well. These are just some of the sports which were played along with the main races which were held over in the college field. Everybody enjoyed the day and the spirit of fun in the sun was very much in evidence throughout the day.

14.  The annual Rounders League involving mixed teams from 3rd to 6th class was held on  June 21st and 22nd once again in glorious sunshine. Over the two days twelve teams each played six games. At the end of the competition medals were awarded to the top team in each division. The behaviour of the boys was excellent over the two days and special praise must be given to the two sixth classes who were particularly patient, understanding and mindful of the younger players on the various teams. Thanks boys.

15.  Once again we had a huge response to our Tesco Tokens [computers for schools] collection. Mr Corbett would like to thank all the boys and parents who contributed to this years huge collection.
