St Declans v St Stephens U13
Football – Oct 8th ‘08
Today
marked a special occasion as the newly built De La Salle GAA Gracdieu complex
hosted its first Primary Schools game. It was only fitting then that the old
rivals of St Declans and St Stephens should once again go head to head in
this years Waterford
U13 Gaelic Football League. Conditions were windy and cool but dry at least. It was
an uncompromising, competitive and tough match where both sides fought tooth
and nail for every ball. Within seconds of the throw in we were a goal down
but assisted by a strong breeze we slowly clawed our way back hitting over 7
points before half time. Ross, James and Jack all played well in the opening
20 minutes. Despite now being against the wind Aaron scored a great early
goal to put a little distance between the two teams. However it was only
through brave defending in the last 15 minutes especially by Aidan that
helped to deliver another fantastic win for this team. Well done boys!
