Class Work Special Events School Archives	An Audience with Michael Smith – Oct 9^th ‘07 Author of “Tom Crean … The Ice Man” Please wait for all the pictures to load…… Today our 4^th class and two 5^th classes walked to Waterford City Library for the Childrens Book Festival to see Michael Smith, the author. Colm and I were partners. There was a delay because the computer had a problem with the projector. We sat down in a semi circle and he told us about Tom Crean. Michael Smith said that Tom had lied about his age so that he could join the Navy. He also told us about Tom’s adventures in Antarctica. I asked him if there were other books written on Tom Crean. Michael Smith replied that there were no other books before his. The author showed us quite a few pictures of Tom and his friends in Antarctica. There are two versions of Michael Smith’s book, one for children and one for adults. Our teacher is reading Ice man in class and it is very interesting. It was nice to meet the person who wrote it and I enjoyed listening to him talk about Tom Crean. {By Michael - 4^thClass}
