Antique Tuesday – May 15th ‘07

Please wait for all the pictures to load……

Today Tuesday 15th of May is Antique Tuesday. Mr.Doran told our class a month ago all about Antique Tuesday and said that all of his classes did Antique Tuesday. We had to bring in the oldest thing we could find at home. At first I didn’t know what to bring in and I couldn’t think of anything. When I went home from school I asked my Mam and Dad what I could bring in. My Mam and Dad said that they didn’t know what to bring in. So I decided to look around the house to see if there was anything suitable. I couldn’t find anything so I told my Mam. My Mam said to ask my Nanny.

A couple of days later I went into my Nanny’s house and told her all about Antique Tuesday. She said there is a picture of my Great Great Granddad and his two daughters and his son. The picture was taken on a beach a century ago. I was really happy with the picture so I decided to take it but my Nanny told me to be very careful with it because it is very valuable to my family.

On the day of Antique Tuesday I was very surprised because everybody’s antiques were really good. I thought the best one was by Conor Winters. It was about World War 1. A person called Mr. Keighery told us all about antiques, and he said that most old things are better than new things. I enjoyed getting the antique but I didn’t enjoy doing the research!
