A New Vegetable Patch for the School Garden – Mar ‘07

Between January and March this year we added a new vegetable section
to the School Garden. This job turned out to be a
lot harder than we thought. Firstly 4 railway sleepers were laid in a square and
a path around it was dug out.
 
Then topsoil which had been delivered to the junior yard had to
be carried in in a convoy of buckets! Black plastic, sand and then stone were
all laid in turn to make a nice surrounding path.
 
Fresh compost from the school compost bins was also mixed in
with the soil.
 
The square was then divided in to quarters using bricks before
the job was completed. A good terms work done in the garden.
