Name the Goat - Mar 22nd
2010
This year we celebrated 10 years
of sending goats to Africa with the Bothar organization.
We marked this occasion by raising €1200, enough to send 3 goats while
also making a €200 donation to Trocaire. All the goats are female and
each receiving family passes on its first female of its off spring to another
needy family. That family does the same and so the cycle continues. Therefore
over the last 10 years we have helped far more than just the immediate recipient
families.
Jeremy Meehan, Education Director with
Bothar visited the school on Mar 12th and spoke to all classes
about he important work being carried out by Bothar in Africa.
Many thanks to Valerie and Lar Curran from Copper Coast Mini farm who were our special celebrity
guests at our ceremony today. Our poster competition winners were Eoghan
Fylnn, David Hogan and Daniel Walsh. This year Owen Oseni, Elroy Ng and Manu
Grant named our latest goats. Their names were Sophie, Hannah and Rosie. All
the winners received Easter Eggs as their prize. Mr Doran thanked all the
boys and their families for once again being so generous and decided to give
everyone homework off to celebrate this very special occasion.
