A Rotten Experiment – Oct ‘07Experiment Objective: To see how
many weeks it takes for an apple and banana to decompose. A peeled, an unpeeled apple and a
banana were used. In the third experiment one apple and banana were protected
by a wire mesh. Picture I shows the experiment
being set up. Pucture 2 and 3 show some of
the boys checking for changes. This was done on a weekly basis.
The results were recorded. The most obvious observations
were… 1. The peeled fruit decomposed more quickly. 2. The mesh wire protected the fruit from the smaller
birds. 3. The bananas and peeled fruit decomposed more
quickly. 4. Birds and insects aided the decomposing. 5. After eight weeks all the fruit had
