Surprise
for Mr O Mahony and Mrs O Shea! – June 26th ‘08
It was a very emotional day
today as we paid tribute to two staff members, Mrs O Shea and our Principal
Mr O Mahony who are both retiring this year. This event had been secretly
organized as a “red day” so both got a real surprise when they
entered the junior yard to a sea of red and cheers of praise. Wayne and Evan
spoke on behalf of the whole school as they presented Mrs O Shea and Mr O
Mahony with gifts of appreciation for their many years of dedication, service
and professionalism here in St Declans. Mrs O Shea thanked the boys and spoke
of her many happy years working with the best boys, teachers and parents in Waterford. For his part
Mr O Mahony promised to wear what ever was wrapped up in the parcel …
that was until he saw a Kilkenny jersey!... which was obviously wrapped by Mr
Hughes! Later he donned his favourite jersey much to the delight of all the
boys. Best wishes to both on their retirement from everybody connected with
St Declans.
