Homepage Sports News Sporting Archives This Years Achievements Fixtures Sports Photo Gallery	Tennis News 2012 – 2013 A Year with Many Close Calls! [June 4^th ‘13]This year we held trials before Easter for our school tennis team. Twelve boys tried out for our team and the successful four were Alex Power (captain), Andrew Gaule, Aidan Gannon and Michael Mulligan. This was the first time for all these boys to play together for the school and they excelled themselves by reaching the semi-finals of the Munster Primary Schools Cup. Our first match was ‘away’ to Holy Cross N.S., Tramore, (B team), which we won, 3-1. Next we played ‘at home’ v. Rushbrooke, Cobh. We won comprehensively, 4-0. For the quarter finals our team travelled to Ballinlough Tennis club in Cork to play St Anthony’s N.S. This was a very close match. It was tied at 2-2 after the first four games, so Andrew and Aidan paired up for ‘super doubles’ and won the decider. This put us through to the semi final against Holy Cross N.S., Tramore, but this time we faced their A team, some of whom had reached Munster final stage in previous years. The boys played really well and again tied at 2-2! Andrew and Aidan lined out for ‘super doubles’ once more. This time however, the Tramore boys won out and so we wish them well in the Munster Primary Schools final! Many thanks to the parents of the four boys for their fantastic support and help, providing lifts and food for ‘Home’ fixtures and also driving to the ‘Away’ matches. Finally, special thanks to Ms O Shea for all her work as team co ordinator.
