2014}The
Parents’ Association supported this year’s Cake and Bottle Sale by providing
a Hannspree 10” Tablet {value €170} for a special in-school
raffle. The Secret
Life of Ireland’s Bees {Feb 25th
2014}Today the whole school was
able to enjoy a highly interactive, entertaining and informative presentation
on the “Secret Life of ……Ireland’s Bees”. This
presentation was sponsored by the Parents Association. Good
Response to Unwanted Clothes Collection {Nov 15th
2013} The Parents Association
organised an unwanted clothes collection over the last
three days. Bags of unwanted clothes were left in the Junior yard each
morning. Thanks to everyone who supported this fundraising effort. €220 was
raised. All of this
money will now go towards bringing new and interesting
activities to the school for all the classes to enjoy. Parents
Association AGM {Oct 2nd
2013} This evening the AGM of the St Declans’s Parents
Association was held in the school hall. Unfortunately the attendance was
small. If you would like to know more about the PA or if you would like to
work on the committee, please contact Sharon in the office. It was decided to
organise another clothes collection to raise funds to bring new activities to
the school during the coming year. The collection will run from Wed Nov 13th
to Fri Nov 15th. Please support this fund raising effort. New
Beginnings for Junior Infants {Aug 29th
2013} Two new classes
of Junior Infant started their first day in
“Big School” today. The Parents Association provided tea and coffee to all
the parents as they wished their boys all the best for the day. New Faces
Brighten Up Junior Corridor {August
2013} Last year the Parents
Association ran a number of fundraising events to raise money to decorate
the Junior corridor of the school. This work was finally
completed during the Summer holidays and everyone would agree that the final
result has been amazing. The corridor is now full of colour with an array of
interesting characters which would bring a smile to any face! Sports For
All Day Excitement {June 10th
2013}It was a day full of
sports activities and races for all classes
and the Parents Association helped out yet again by
providing help at the finishing line judging the various placings. 4th
Class Drama Night is Another Great Success. {May 29th
2013}Both 4th
classes were on stage tonight in front of a packed hall
performing plays which they had written themselves. At the interval the Parents
Association provided tea and coffee for
all the parents. Second
Hand Clothes Collection Raises €300 {May 9th
2013} The PA organised a second
hand clothes collection over the last three days. Bags
of unwanted clothes were left in the Junior Yard each morning between 8:30am
and 9:15am. Many thanks to all the parents who contributed to this
collection. €300 was raised and this money will now go towards covering the
cost of a new mural in the Junior corridor. {Mar 21st
2013} The PA presented the school
with a Samsung Tablet {worth €249} to be used in the
raffle as part of the annual Cake and Bottle Sale. Members also helped to
prepare and run this fundraising event. {Jan 22nd
2012} The PA organised a very informative
presentation by Garda Gavin Hegarty on Safer
Use of the Internet for Children. He covered many aspects on
online safety, cyber bullying and the use of social media websites. 1.

2012}The PA organised a Bagpack in Tesco to help raise funds
to replace the Mural in the Junior Infant corridor. Book Fair
Comes to St Declans {Nov 26th – 29th 2012} The PA organised a very successful Book Fair this week in the school hall. Every class visited the Fair during
the week and lots of parents also dropped in for a look. Thanks to everyone
who bought a book. We hope you enjoy it! The total value of books sold was
€2,842. 60% of this (€1,705) has now been credited to the school by Celtic
Travelling Book Co. Ltd. This money will be used to purchase books to be used
in class libraries. New Defibrillator for the School {Oct 2012}Pictured above with our new defibrillator is John Mc Mahon, treasurer of the Parents Association and Mr
Kevin Doran, Principal of St Declans. Last year the
Parents Association ran a number of fundraising events to raise money to
purchase a new defibrillator for the school. In total €1000 was raised.
During the Summer this money, along with school funds was used to buy this
potentially lifesaving machine. 8 members of staff have been trained in the
proper use of this equipment which is now centrally located within the
school. |
